In this role, you will support the preconstruction process by developing accurate competitive cost estimates for electrical and low-voltage construction projects. This includes work across all project phases, from conceptual and schematic design through construction documents and hard bid efforts. You will work closely with project management, operations, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure estimates are complete, accurate, and aligned with project requirements. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and able to communicate clearly in a collaborative team environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop accurate and timely cost estimates for electrical and low-voltage systems across all phases of construction, including conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs in accordance with company standards and formatting. Estimate scopes including, but not limited to: Electrical cabling, wiring, feeders, and branch circuits Conduit, raceways, and cable pathways (EMT, PVC, rigid, surface-mounted raceways, etc.) Electrical power distribution, panels, and related systems Lighting Controls as required by Title 24 Instrument control systems, DCS, devices, tubing, and related systems Structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A and fiber optic) Network infrastructure and Wi-Fi Camera and video surveillance systems Access control and intrusion systems Audiovisual systems Review plans and specifications for completeness and accuracy; identify scope gaps, conflicts, and deficiencies. Schedule and participate in pre-estimate meetings, job walks, and pre-bid conferences. Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure full scope coverage. Prepare conceptual, budgetary, design-assist, and hard-bid estimates. Analyze labor units, productivity rates, material pricing, and construction equipment costs. Prepare and submit complete bid packages, including bid forms and supporting documentation. Participate in bid-day activities, estimate reconciliations, and post-bid clarifications. Assist with post-award project handoff, budget validation, buyouts, and value engineering efforts. Maintain estimating databases, historical pricing, and cost benchmarks. Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Associate or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field OR equivalent industry experience. 3-7+ years of estimating experience in electrical and/or low-voltage construction. Strong ability to interpret and work from electrical and low-voltage drawings and specifications. Solid understanding of electrical systems, conduit and raceway installation practices, and low-voltage infrastructure. Experience performing accurate quantity takeoffs and cost calculations. Working knowledge of construction means, methods, and cost principles. Familiarity with utility provider requirements. Familiarity with CSI/MasterFormat divisions relevant to electrical and low-voltage scopes. Proficiency with estimating and preconstruction software (e.g., Bluebeam, Excel, Accubid, Trimble, BuildingConnected, or similar). Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and accountability. Preferred Qualifications Field experience in electrical or low-voltage installations. Design-Build or Design-Assist estimating experience. Knowledge of NEC and applicable local electrical codes. Prevailing wage project experience. Public works and government project estimating experience. Familiarity with certified payroll requirements, labor compliance, and public bid processes.
Pay:
$35.00 - $50.00 per hour
