Job Title:
Construction Cost Estimator - Healthcare Projects Job Description We are seeking a skilled Construction Cost Estimator with extensive experience in the healthcare and institutional construction sectors. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding ofHCAI/OSHPD
projects, including seismic requirements and healthcare facility standards. This role requires excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively. Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for all phases of healthcare construction projects, including conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents. Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements to identify cost drivers and risks. Develop and maintain unit cost databases, historical cost records, and benchmarking tools specific to HCAI-regulated projects. Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather pricing, validate scope, and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements. Review and interpretHCAI/OSHPD
codes, standards, and submittal processes to ensure accurate cost impacts. Perform quantity takeoffs using industry-standard estimating software. Prepare cost reports, value-engineering options, and budget updates for internal and client presentations. Support bid preparation, procurement strategies, and subcontractor outreach. Participate in constructability reviews and risk assessments. Monitor market trends, labor rates, and material pricing to maintain competitive and accurate estimates. Essential Skills Minimum of five years of professional experience in construction cost estimating, preferably within healthcare or institutional sectors. Demonstrated experience withHCAI/OSHPD
projects, including understanding of seismic requirements and compliance processes. Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, building systems, and sequencing. Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Sage, or WinEst. Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field. Familiarity withOSHPD/HCAI
requirements or local healthcare regulations. Experience working with general contractors, healthcare owners, or design firms. Familiarity with BIM-based estimating workflows. Knowledge of California building codes and seismic retrofit requirements. Work Environment This position involves working on both indoor and outdoor job sites. The company offers a family-owned environment with a constant backlog of work. Employees have access to a training and advancement program, which allows for role changes after gaining experience. Additionally, an end-of-year performance bonus is available. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Long Beach, CA.
