Job Description

Estimator - Custom Windows & DoorsPosition OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator with strong millwork experience to prepare accurate, competitive estimates for residential and architectural projects. The Estimator will analyze blueprints and specifications, develop material and labor takeoffs, and collaborate with sales, vendors, and project teams to produce clear proposals. Success requires proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam, excellent cost/pricing judgment, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Key ResponsibilitiesReview architectural drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine scope of millwork and related trades.

Perform detailed takeoffs for millwork, doors, windows, hardware, and related materials using AutoCAD and Bluebeam.

Prepare accurate cost estimates, labor hours, and pricing proposals for residential homes and architectural projects.

Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing, lead times, and material options; evaluate vendor quotes.

Collaborate with sales, project managers, and architects to clarify scope, respond to RFIs, and adjust estimates as project details evolve.

Maintain and update estimating databases, standard cost libraries, and historical pricing records.

Produce clear, professional estimate packages and proposals for clients and internal review.

Identify value engineering opportunities and recommend cost-saving alternatives without compromising quality.

Support preconstruction meetings and assist in bid submission and follow-up.

Track estimate outcomes and provide feedback to improve estimating accuracy and processes.

Qualifications5+ years of estimating experience with a focus on millwork and finish carpentry for residential and architectural projects.

Proficient in AutoCAD for reading and extracting quantities from drawings.

Experienced with Bluebeam for markups, takeoffs, and document management.

Strong knowledge of millwork components including doors, windows, hardware, trim, and related materials.

Demonstrated ability to perform detailed takeoffs, cost and pricing analysis, and produce competitive proposals.

Familiarity with reading blueprints, architectural specifications, and responding to RFIs.

Proven experience working with vendors and negotiating material pricing and lead times.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating with sales and project teams.

Proficiency with general estimating software and Microsoft Office; experience with SalesForce or other CRM is a plus.

Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
