Estimator General Contractor

J. Mark Enterprises is a premier maintenance and remodeling company looking for a highly experienced General Contractor/Estimator to lead our kitchen and bathroom division. This is a critical role for an industry veteran who understands the nuances of high-end residential remodeling—from the first measurement to the final walkthrough. You will be responsible for providing precision estimates, managing onsite workflows, and ensuring that every project reflects our commitment to quality.

Responsibilities Precision Estimating:

Conduct detailed onsite assessments and provide accurate, competitive cost estimates for full kitchen and bathroom remodels.

Project Oversight:

Manage the end-to-end workflow of residential projects, ensuring they stay on schedule and within budget.

Subcontractor Coordination:

Vet, hire, and supervise specialized trades (plumbing, electrical, tile) to ensure work meets California building codes and company standards.

Client Management:

Act as the primary technical point of contact for homeowners, explaining scopes of work, managing change orders, and providing onsite training/consultation.

Blueprint & Design Review:

Analyze construction drawings and specifications to identify material requirements and potential structural challenges before they arise.

Resource Management:

Track labor, material costs, and equipment needs across multiple concurrent projects (e.g., our Ford Street project).

Qualifications & Requirements Experience:

Minimum of 7-10 years in residential remodeling, with a heavy emphasis on kitchens and bathrooms.

Technical Expertise:

Mastery of residential construction techniques including framing, waterproofing systems, high-end tile installation, and rough-in plumbing/electrical.

Estimating Skills:

Proven track record of producing profitable, accurate bids. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Xactimate, or PlanSwift) is highly preferred.

California Compliance:

Deep knowledge of California building codes, labor laws, and safety regulations.

Leadership:

Strong ability to manage crews and communicate effectively with office management and executive leadership.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field is a plus, but extensive "on-the-tools" and management experience is prioritized.

Reliability:

Must have a valid driver's license and a clean professional record. Benefits Competitive salary based on experience. Mileage reimbursement and professional development opportunities.
