You'll be responsible for analyzing part drawings, determining feasible machining approaches, and providing accurate cost and timeline estimates based on our shop's capabilities and equipment. This role requires hands-on knowledge of material properties and the ability to communicate technical requirements clearly with both production and clients. Duties Review engineering drawings and specifications to develop machining estimates Evaluate material selections and recommend optimal cutting parameters for different material types (aluminum, steel, stainless, composites, etc.) Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards when analyzing tolerances and assessing machining feasibility Communicate technical requirements and limitations to clients and internal teams based on actual shop capabilities Provide realistic timelines and cost projections for complex machining projects Collaborate with production and engineering to refine estimates and improve accuracy over time Qualifications Proven experience as a machining estimator or in a similar role within precision manufacturing Strong knowledge of GD&T principles and their application to machining operations Solid understanding of material properties and cutting characteristics across multiple material types Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Experience translating shop capabilities and constraints into realistic estimates Familiarity with CAM software or 3D modeling tools Background in CNC machining or tool/die work Knowledge of various machining processes (turning, milling, grinding, etc.)
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
