In this pivotal leadership role, you will oversee the entire estimating process, ensuring accurate project cost projections and competitive bidding strategies. Your expertise will drive project profitability, foster strong client relationships, and lead a dedicated team of estimators. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence large-scale infrastructure developments and contribute to the growth of a dynamic construction organization committed to excellence and innovation. Duties Lead the development of comprehensive cost estimates for heavy civil projects, including roads, bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure works. Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to interpret project plans, specifications, and contract requirements. Utilize advanced estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to prepare detailed bid proposals and cost analyses. Manage the bidding process from initial inquiry through final submission, ensuring all estimates are competitive yet profitable. Oversee subcontractor and supplier negotiations to secure favorable pricing and terms while maintaining quality standards. Implement rigorous cost control measures throughout the estimating process to identify potential risks and opportunities for savings. Review contracts, scope of work, and project schedules to align estimates with project objectives and contractual obligations. Mentor and supervise a team of estimators, fostering professional development and ensuring consistency in estimating practices across projects. Stay current with industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and regulatory changes impacting heavy civil construction costs. Qualifications Proven experience in construction estimating within heavy civil or infrastructure projects; prior experience as a Chief Estimator is highly preferred. Strong proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid; familiarity with Bluebeam for document management is a plus. Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers. Deep understanding of construction management processes, contracts, cost control techniques, and project scheduling. Demonstrated ability to interpret complex construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents. Solid background in construction site experience or field operations enhances estimating accuracy. Exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
