This role focuses on cost estimating, bid preparation, and subcontractor coordination for design-build and hard-bid construction projects. Main Description Sunny Unite is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team in Walnut, California as a full-time employee with a hybrid work option. Position Overview The Construction Estimator is responsible for analyzing construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and related documentation to prepare accurate estimates of time, cost, and labor for commercial, retail, and light industrial projects. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can thrive in a fast-paced environment while supporting both design-build and hard-bid projects. We are looking for candidates with at least five (5) years of relevant experience who can work effectively in a collaborative team setting. Requirements Minimum of five (5) years of commercial or retail construction estimating experience Experience with light industrial projects is a plus Strong ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet deadlines Excellent time management and prioritization skills Strong communication and coordination skills with subcontractors and project teams Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and reliability Software Proficiency Experience with the following tools is preferred: AEC360, BuildingConnected, Procore, Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, and Box Key Responsibilities Review project drawings and documentation to determine material and labor requirements, and prepare detailed cost estimates Manage the bidding process, analyze trade scopes, and qualify subcontractor bids Perform quantity take-offs and ensure compliance with project or landlord requirements Collect and verify all necessary data to prepare and submit client bids Calculate cost factors to support project planning, scheduling, bid preparation, and change orders Conduct cost analysis to identify potential cost-saving opportunities Communicate with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to clarify scope and resolve discrepancies Prepare competitive proposals and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors Monitor and control project costs throughout the construction process Education & Experience Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or Minimum of five (5) years of relevant estimating or cost management experience, or Equivalent combination of education and experience Language & Communication Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and industry standards Strong written communication skills for reports and business correspondence Effective verbal communication and presentation skills Additional Information Reports to: Senior Project Management /
