Job Description We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to develop accurate, competitive, and buildable estimates for mechanical construction projects within the oil, gas, and midstream industry. This role serves as the lead technical estimator for piping, welding, equipment setting, structural, and facility-related scopes. The Senior Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for reviewing bid packages, performing detailed material and labor takeoffs, evaluating constructability, coordinating vendor and subcontractor pricing, identifying project risks, and preparing comprehensive cost proposals. This position works closely with project management, operations, engineering, supply chain, and project controls teams to ensure estimates align with execution strategies and operational realities. The ideal candidate will have strong field and estimating knowledge, exceptional analytical capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple bids in fast-paced industrial environments. Responsibilities Develop complete and accurate mechanical estimates from drawings, specifications, and bid documentation. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for piping, welding, equipment, valves, structural steel, and mechanical systems. Review and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, mechanical drawings, and scope documents. Analyze project documents for constructability concerns, scope gaps, and quantity discrepancies. Prepare detailed labor estimates using production rates, crew compositions, historical performance data, and craft-hour calculations. Coordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to solicit, review, and normalize vendor and subcontractor quotations. Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and job walks to evaluate site conditions and project risks. Identify project assumptions, exclusions, risks, and clarifications for proposal development. Collaborate with project management, engineering, and field operations teams to validate execution methods and labor assumptions. Support value engineering initiatives and alternative construction approaches. Prepare estimate summaries, pricing breakdowns, and internal review packages. Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, unit rates, and production metrics. Support conceptual, budgetary, FEL, and detailed estimates at various project phases. Provide estimate logic, assumptions, quantities, and supporting documentation during project turnover and handoff. Support project controls with cost structure development, WBS alignment, and estimate organization. Manage multiple concurrent bids while communicating priorities and progress updates to leadership. Ensure all estimate documentation and supporting calculations are organized, accurate, and traceable. Proven experience estimating pipelines, facilities, terminals, and mechanical construction projects. Strong understanding of piping systems, pressure classes, fittings, welding, fabrication, and mechanical installation methods. Experience developing detailed labor estimates using crew makeup, production rates, and field productivity data. Proficiency with estimating software such as InEight, HeavyBid, Navisworks, Bluebeam, or similar platforms. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and cost modeling. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, mechanical drawings, and construction specifications. Knowledge of ASME, API, and applicable mechanical construction standards. Familiarity with indirect costs, labor burdens, consumables, equipment rates, and project controls structures. Experience supporting conceptual and FEL-level estimating activities preferred. Familiarity with Primavera P6, MS Project, Power BI, or JD Edwards is a plus. Field experience in mechanical, piping, welding, or industrial construction environments preferred. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered. Professional certifications such as AACEI CEP, PMP, or ASPE are a plus. Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work effectively in fast-paced environments. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Ability to travel occasionally as required.
