Water/Wastewater Treatment and Commercial Construction Location:
Hartford CT |

Full-Time | Exempt Role Overview A growing construction organization delivering complex infrastructure and building projects is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead estimating efforts for technically demanding work. This role focuses on developing accurate, competitive, and well-structured estimates for environmental, water-related, and other complex construction projects. The Senior Estimator plays a key role in preconstruction, working closely with leadership, operations, and engineering teams to assess risk, evaluate constructability, and position projects for successful execution. Key Responsibilities Lead estimating efforts for complex construction and infrastructure pursuits Perform full quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimates across multiple disciplines Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify scope requirements and gaps Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier pricing Identify project risks, constructability challenges, and value-engineering opportunities Develop clear, well-organized bid packages and cost breakdowns Collaborate with operations and engineering teams during pre-bid planning and handoff Maintain and utilize historical cost data, benchmarks, and estimating tools Support bid strategy, scope definition, and pricing reviews Mentor and support other estimators as appropriate Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience Minimum of 10 years of experience estimating complex construction projects Proven background estimating infrastructure, environmental, water, wastewater, or similarly engineered construction work Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Technical Skills & Experience Advanced proficiency in quantity take-offs and cost modeling Strong understanding of drawings, specifications, and contract documents Experience estimating projects with mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, and process components High proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, especially Excel Comfortable learning and utilizing estimating and preconstruction software Strong typing, documentation, and organizational skills Professional & Cultural Expectations Demonstrates integrity, reliability, and accountability Balances precision, schedule, and profitability in all estimates Takes initiative to ask questions, validate assumptions, and research details Works collaboratively across preconstruction, operations, and leadership teams Adapts to changing priorities and evolving company needs Mentors others and contributes to continuous improvement of estimating processes Work Environment Primarily office-based with standard desk responsibilities Daytime schedule aligned with preconstruction and bid deadlines Extended hours may be required to meet proposal and bid schedules What's Offered Competitive compensation commensurate with experience Performance-based bonus opportunities Opportunity to work on complex, high-impact projects Long-term growth and advancement opportunities within a stable organization If you are interested in this opportunity please don't hesitate to apply!
