Job Description

General Construction Estimator Federal Construction | Mission Critical Infrastructure | Energy & Microgrid Projects Reliance Construction is seeking an experienced General Construction Estimator with strong electrical estimating knowledge to support federal, state, and mission-critical infrastructure projects across our growing portfolio. This role is ideal for a construction professional who understands both general trades and electrical systems, and who can confidently develop competitive estimates for commercial, federal, energy, infrastructure, renovation, and design-build projects. The Estimator will work closely with company leadership, project teams, subcontractors, and clients throughout all phases of the preconstruction process. While the primary focus of this position will be supporting projects within the National Capital Region (NCR), the Estimator will also assist with federal project pursuits and bid efforts across the country. Responsibilities Prepare detailed conceptual, schematic, and construction document level estimates for federal construction projects Develop complete pricing packages for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, renovation, and infrastructure scopes Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analysis using RSMeans, On-Screen Takeoff, 4Clicks, MCACES, and related estimating platforms Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and bid documents to identify project requirements and risk factors Coordinate subcontractor and vendor pricing, including long-lead equipment procurement and scope alignment Prepare and manage RFIs throughout the estimating lifecycle Assist in developing project pricing packages, subcontractor bid packages, and value engineering solutions to support successful project delivery Support design-build and design-assist pursuits through coordination with trade partners, consultants, and internal teams Analyze constructability, logistics, labor availability, and schedule impacts during preconstruction Present estimates, budgets, and cost reduction recommendations to leadership and project stakeholders Assist with estimating efforts involving utility interconnections, distributed generation, microgrid systems, electrical controls, and energy infrastructure projects Support proposal development and bid submission efforts for federal and state procurements Travel to project sites and client meetings as needed Qualifications Minimum 5 years of estimating experience within commercial and/or federal construction Strong understanding of electrical systems, infrastructure, and construction means and methods Experience estimating electrical, mechanical, renovation, and design-build projects preferred Experience with federal construction, IDIQ/MATOC contracts, or mission-critical infrastructure projects strongly preferred Proficiency with RSMeans, On-Screen Takeoff, 4Clicks, MCACES, Procore, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting deadlines Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred but not required Electrical field experience, apprenticeship training, or electrical licensing is a plus Experience with utility interconnections, distributed generation, renewable energy, or microgrid systems is highly desirable Why Reliance Construction Reliance Construction is a growing federal and infrastructure-focused contractor supporting mission-critical projects across defense, energy, and government markets. Pay:
$70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
