Duties Prepare detailed project estimates using industry-standard software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam, incorporating labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs Develop comprehensive project budgets and schedules to ensure accurate forecasting and resource allocation Review project plans, specifications, and contracts thoroughly to identify potential risks and opportunities for cost savings Negotiate with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards Manage all aspects of project execution including scope definition, cost control, scheduling, and quality assurance Oversee construction site activities to ensure adherence to safety protocols, project timelines, and budget constraints Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and internal teams to facilitate clear communication and smooth project flow Monitor project progress regularly, prepare reports on costs and timelines, and implement corrective actions as needed Skills Extensive knowledge of construction estimating principles and techniques Hands-on construction site experience combined with solid understanding of construction management practices Expertise in cost control methods to keep projects within budget without compromising quality Four (4) year postsecondary degree in a related field (building science, construction management, civil engineering, etc.) required. Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of degree/certification At least five (5) years' estimating experience preferred. Ability to read and understand contracts and engineering and architectural drawings and specifications. Strong analytical skills Demonstrated ability in these areas: interpersonal skills; computer skills; ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the project, both written and oral.
