Job Overview The candidate will work on tasks related to project cost estimation, preparing a complete and comprehensive Bid Package for review by the Senior Estimator and Preconstruction Manager prior to any project deadline. More particularly, but not limited to, the candidate will work on detailed pricing estimates aiming for self- performing works in structure and civil trades among others.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the preparation of complete conceptual, schematic, design development, and final bid estimates for construction projects. Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and other project documentation to determine scope requirements. Perform and oversee detailed quantity takeoffs for structural, civil, architectural, and specialty trades. Develop comprehensive cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, indirect costs, contingencies, escalation, and general conditions. Analyze project risks, opportunities, assumptions, and exclusions, and incorporate findings into pricing strategies. Prepare detailed estimate summaries, bid packages, scope sheets, and proposal documentation for management review. Lead the solicitation, evaluation, and leveling of subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure complete scope coverage and competitive pricing. Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and industry partners. Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) during the estimating and bidding process. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, constructability reviews, and value engineering exercises. Collaborate with operations, project management, and preconstruction teams to validate means and methods, productivity assumptions, and project execution strategies. Support business development and client presentations by providing estimating expertise and project cost guidance. Maintain and update historical cost databases, production rates, and estimating benchmarks. Provide guidance and technical support to junior estimators and estimating staff. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of progressive construction estimating experience, with demonstrated experience preparing estimates for large and complex commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or mixed-use projects. Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, cost control principles, productivity analysis, and procurement practices. Advanced ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documents. Experience estimating self-performed structural and civil work preferred. Proficiency in Excel, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, and other industry-standard estimating software. Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple pursuits and meet demanding bid deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Pay:
$115,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
