This role is for a seasoned estimator who understands Florida sitework, local subcontractor markets, DOT/municipal requirements, earthwork, utilities, paving, drainage, grading, and complete civil site packages. The ideal candidate must be able to take ownership of estimates from initial review through bid submission, value engineering, handoff, and post-bid follow-up. Florida civil site estimating experience is required. Applicants without direct Florida civil site estimating experience will not be considered. Responsibilities Prepare complete estimates for civil site construction projects in Florida Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, addenda, and bid documents Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, grading, utilities, drainage, paving, concrete, erosion control, and related sitework scopes Solicit, evaluate, and qualify subcontractor and supplier pricing Build accurate cost estimates including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, general conditions, and risk factors Identify scope gaps, constructability issues, exclusions, and bid risks Prepare bid proposals, clarifications, alternates, and value engineering options Work closely with operations, project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and ownership Participate in bid reviews and project handoff meetings Maintain historical cost data and improve estimating accuracy over time Required Qualifications Proven experience estimating civil site construction projects in Florida Strong knowledge of Florida civil site construction practices, market pricing, subcontractors, and permitting considerations Experience estimating scopes such as: Earthwork Grading Storm drainage Underground utilities Water and sewer Roadway/site paving Curb, sidewalk, and concrete Erosion control Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specs, soils reports, and bid documents Strong quantity takeoff and cost-building skills Experience managing multiple bids and deadlines Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills High attention to detail and ability to identify risk before bid submission Preferred Qualifications Experience with commercial, residential, municipal, industrial, or DOT-related sitework projects Existing knowledge of Florida subcontractor and supplier networks Experience using estimating/takeoff software such as HCSS, Agtek, Bluebeam, Planswift, HeavyBid, Trimble, or similar platforms Ability to assist with value engineering and preconstruction strategy Experience mentoring junior estimators or supporting estimating department processes Ideal Candidate The right candidate is not just a takeoff person.
