- Florida Premier Contractors (FPC) is seeking a qualified and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team in our Punta Gorda, FL office and contribute to a fast-paced and rapidly growing organization.
- Responsibilities
- The Estimator will work closely with the estimating team in all aspects of estimating including pre-construction, hard bids, negotiated bids, budgets, general conditions, systems studies and comparisons, value engineering, subcontractor relations.
The position offers the potential for advancements. Assist to develop project estimates at various levels of design document completion, conceptual, schematic, design development and construction document stage. Assist in preparing bid packages and subcontractor scopes to comply with company procedures and Owner contract terms. Assist in preparing budget/estimate for staffing and general conditions. Assist the project staff to perform constructability reviews to actively look for design coordination issues, omissions or problems with the plans and specs that could be corrected before the project begins to improve constructability during construction. Communicate with vendors and subcontractors for quotes / proposals. Prepare quantity take-offs Periodically participate in business development activities, presentations, and interviews. Discuss and resolve any questions with subcontractors and vendors. Organize and manage a centralized cost estimating database. Qualifications Associate or bachelor's Degree, preferably in Construction Management, Architecture or related field. 3+ years of experience in Construction Estimating, or equivalent. Excellent organization, computer, and verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of Excel spread sheets, and Word processing programs. Experience with estimating software such as Planswift Procore, Bluebeam and other software. Understanding of conceptual estimating, value engineering, and historical pricing. Able to work with speed and efficiency. Understanding of the influence of market conditions on pricing. Develops lasting relationships with subcontractors and vendors. Field construction experience a plus. Detail oriented with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
