5+ Years Position Overview Florida Coastal Paving, a Delaware Valley Paving Company, is seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager / Estimator to join our growing team. This position combines both pre-construction estimating responsibilities and post-award project management duties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in asphalt paving, sitework, roadway construction, or related construction disciplines and possess the ability to successfully manage projects from bid through completion. This is a highly visible role that requires strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and leadership skills. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and traveling as needed to support operations and client relationships. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Pre-Construction Review and interpret plans at all stages of development, from conceptual and budgetary designs to fully detailed construction documents. Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and production rates. Solicit, evaluate, and qualify vendor and subcontractor proposals. Analyze project specifications, scopes of work, schedules, and risk factors to determine bid feasibility. Compile and evaluate data affecting project costs, including labor rates, material pricing, equipment requirements, logistics, and location-specific factors. Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals within required deadlines. Assist with contract negotiations and review project agreements. Maintain estimating databases, cost histories, and bid documentation. Project Management Manage projects from contract award through final completion and closeout. Coordinate project startup activities, schedules, staffing plans, subcontractors, equipment, and material procurement. Monitor project budgets, costs, profitability, and production performance. Review and manage project contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation. Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Conduct project site visits and meetings to ensure quality, safety, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved. Identify project risks and develop proactive solutions to mitigate issues. Track project progress and provide regular status updates to leadership. Support invoicing, collections, and project financial reporting activities. Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards. Additional Responsibilities Manage multiple bids and projects concurrently while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. Support strategic growth initiatives and special assignments as directed by leadership. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and industry partners. Assist in developing and improving estimating and project management processes and procedures. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating, project management, or a combination of both within asphalt paving, roadway construction, sitework, heavy civil construction, or a related field. Strong understanding of paving operations, construction methods, project scheduling, and cost controls. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Experience preparing bids, estimates, and project budgets. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software. Experience with estimating software and ERP systems is preferred. Valid driver's license with the ability to travel as needed throughout Florida and surrounding markets. Requirements Ability to work in-person from a Florida Coastal Paving office location. Ability to travel regularly to project sites, customer meetings, pre-bid meetings, and company locations. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
