Interstates is hiring an Electrical Estimator II. In this role, you'll turn drawings, specs, and ideas into accurate, competitive estimates that help win and deliver complex industrial projects. You'll work closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams—playing a key role from early bid strategy through project handoff. A family-like culture where people genuinely look out for each other You're known as a person, not a number Flexibility that supports life outside of work Team events, lunches, and real connection—not just talk Opportunities to give back through community involvement Our Why Provide opportunities for our people Make a difference with our clients Pursue a better way What you'll do Build accurate, competitive estimates using Interstates tools and systems Review drawings, specs, and bid documents to define scope and pricing Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to develop project scope Analyze cost history, labor units, and production data to strengthen estimates Identify risks, gaps, and value-add opportunities—and communicate them clearly Support proposal development and strategy with the proposal team Document assumptions, clarifications, and decisions throughout the bid cycle Assist with contract review, negotiations, and project handoff to execution teams Contribute to improving estimating methods, tools, and standards Additional responsibilities Support change orders and cost-to-complete estimates on active projects Partner with project managers and engineers on ongoing work Help standardize estimating approaches across design/build and plan/spec work What you bring 2-3 years of industrial electrical estimating experience (or similar) Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to manage details, prioritize work, and stay organized Clear communication and a team-first mindset Technical skills (preferred) Microsoft Excel, Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Understanding of electrical fundamentals (voltage drop, conduit fill, ampacity, etc.) Location & Travel Fort Dodge or Des Moines, IA (office-based) 10% travel to nearby job sites Why Interstates 401(k) with company match Health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance Paid time off + holidays + flexible scheduling Bonus incentives and merit increases Career coaching and advancement opportunities Team events, volunteer opportunities, and a strong safety culture Ready to build something that matters?
