Job Description

East Moline Glass (EMG) is a regional leader in commercial glass façade manufacturing and installation. Starting as a small family-owned and operated business in 1960, we continue to experience exceptional growth. We have partnerships with many top construction-related firms and suppliers which is feeding and continuing our progress. We are continually analyzing and improving our team environment by adding proactive & engaged individuals to lead to a more enjoyable and more valuable workplace.
Objective :
We are looking to add self-starter, enthusiastic team members to the EMG family! Our Project Estimator is responsible for pricing the cost of materials, labor, and equipment for commercial construction glazing. This position is required to communicate with suppliers, contractors, and our project managers on a regular basis. Some responsibilities include interpreting plans/blueprints, attending bid meetings, occasionally visiting jobsites, and maintaining meticulous communication with several parties.
Responsibilities :
  • Calculate the costs of materials, labor, equipment, transportation, and more to determine the overall cost of a project
  • Create written estimates, budgets, and proposals for project managers
  • Read and interpret project blueprints/drawings to assist in project estimating
  • Communicate frequently with suppliers, general contractors, & owners to create and maintain good rapport and to fully understand the prospected projects
  • Visit construction sites to gather information and analyze proposals, specifications, blueprints, and construction documents in order to understand the project
  • Consistently analyze updated information and adjust estimates according to new timelines or added material
  • Employ excellent problem-solving skills, using professionalism and effective communication, for any challenge or unexpected change that might arise
  • Be creative and able to identify variables that could affect costs
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills/Requirements :
  • Eagerness to learn and establish a career in construction project estimating
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication; gets along well with others
  • Strong MS Office skills and general computer skills using proprietary industry specific software
  • Great time management and organization skills
  • Team player with a go-getter attitude
Education :
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in construction/estimating strongly preferred
  • Related degree or certification preferred
Job Type:
Full-time (40 hrs/week) in office; M-F Day Shift with flexibility
Working Conditions:
  • Both office and outdoors; possible exposure to loud noises, all weather conditions, and construction zones
  • Requires sedentary work, sitting, and typing (up to 8 hours per working day)
