Job Description

We are seeking a sales-focused construction professional to lead residential builder account growth and estimating activities within a specialty contractor environment focused on insulation, fireplaces, and builder services. This role is ideal for someone who can independently develop builder relationships, read plans, prepare accurate estimates, and close work across residential and light commercial construction projects. The position combines field-facing sales responsibilities with hands-on estimating and scope review ownership. The ideal candidate understands residential construction, is comfortable working directly with builders and developers, and can manage both customer relationships and project pricing with accuracy and follow-through. Responsibilities Develop and maintain relationships with residential builders, contractors, developers, and production homebuilding accounts Identify new business opportunities through networking, referrals, direct outreach, and visibility within the local builder community Review construction plans, drawings, and specifications to identify insulation, fireplace, and related specialty scope opportunities Prepare accurate estimates, pricing proposals, and bid packages for residential and light commercial projects Meet directly with builders, project stakeholders, vendors, and internal operations teams to support account growth and project execution Negotiate pricing, scope adjustments, and project expectations with customers and production teams Track active bids, follow up on pending opportunities, and maintain consistent sales pipeline activity Support project turnover by clearly communicating awarded scope, schedules, pricing, and job requirements to operations teams Monitor local market trends, competitor activity, and builder pipeline opportunities to support growth strategies Maintain organized records of bids, proposals, customer communication, and account activity Requirements 5+ years of experience in construction sales, estimating, builder services, or specialty contracting Experience working with residential builders, developers, or production homebuilding accounts required Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications Experience estimating insulation, fireplaces, building products, or related specialty trade scopes strongly preferred Existing Kansas City builder relationships highly preferred Must be comfortable owning both sales development and estimating responsibilities independently Residential construction experience required; commercial-only backgrounds without builder exposure will not be sufficient Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and customer relationship management skills Ability to manage multiple bids, client relationships, and follow-up priorities at once Benefits Competitive salary plus commission or bonus structure based on experience and production Health insurance and benefits package Retirement plan options Paid time off Vehicle allowance or mileage support may be available Additional company-sponsored benefit programs If you're a construction sales and estimating professional with strong builder relationships and the ability to turn opportunities into awarded work, we'd love to hear from you.
