Job Description
Job Summary:
The Job Cost Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for customer requests in a contract machining and aerospace manufacturing environment. This role supports business development efforts by analyzing engineering data, developing build plans, and working closely with customers and internal teams to ensure pricing, lead time, and technical requirements are aligned. This position is part of the Estimating team and works closely with Operations, Finance, and Program Management to support successful project execution and maintain a strong win rate.Key Responsibilities :
Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates in response to customer requests for quotation. Analyze engineering drawings, 3D models, and customer specifications to determine manufacturing requirements. Develop detailed build plans by identifying all steps required to manufacture parts, including materials, labor, and outside processing. Collaborate with Operations and Finance to ensure estimates reflect current capabilities, costs, and processes. Communicate with customers to clarify requirements and support the quoting process. Maintain organized and accurate records of estimates and supporting data. Support Program Managers and leadership with special projects and cost analysis as needed. Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the estimating process.Required Qualifications :
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Tool Building, or Aerospace Part Planning. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical documents. Experience with CATIA or similar 3D modeling software. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong math skills including working with fractions, decimals, percentages, and proportions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and build positive working relationships. Ability to maintain confidentiality.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in aerospace or contract manufacturing environments. Experience with ERP systems. Familiarity with estimating, quoting, or cost modeling processes.Work Environment:
Office environment with frequent interaction across departments. May require occasional time on the shop floor to better understand manufacturing processes. Fast paced, deadline driven environment with changing priorities.Schedule:
