Hire Opportunity Senior MEP Estimator Responsibilities:
The Senior MEP Estimator will play a critical role within the preconstruction team by developing comprehensive cost estimates, evaluating project risks, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting strategic bid development efforts. This individual will be responsible for ensuring all estimates are accurate, complete, and aligned with project objectives and market conditions. Estimating & Preconstruction Review and analyze project plans, specifications, drawings, and contract documents to determine project scope and MEP requirements Prepare detailed conceptual, schematic, design development, and hard-bid estimates for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialty systems Perform quantity takeoffs and accurately price labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, general conditions, and indirect costs Develop comprehensive bid packages and estimate summaries for executive review Evaluate design documents for completeness, constructability, and cost-saving opportunities Identify project risks, scope gaps, value engineering opportunities, and cost drivers Collaboration & Project Planning Coordinate with project managers, engineers, architects, owners, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the preconstruction process Participate in pre-bid meetings, design review sessions, site visits, and bid strategy discussions Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure complete scope coverage and competitive pricing Assist with project scheduling, phasing strategies, logistics planning, and constructability reviews Provide budgeting support and cost guidance throughout the design and procurement process Bid Management & Cost Control Lead and manage bid-day activities, including subcontractor communications and final estimate reviews Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and market pricing trends Monitor estimate revisions throughout project development and provide detailed cost analyses Support contract negotiations, procurement efforts, subcontract development, and project handoff meetings Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and cost studies for leadership and project stakeholders Senior MEP Estimator Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Minimum of 5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience with a strong focus on MEP systems Proven experience preparing estimates for large-scale commercial construction projects Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialty building systems Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, BIM models, and construction documents Knowledge of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, scheduling, and procurement processes Experience developing conceptual budgets, GMPs, negotiated estimates, and competitive bid proposals Experience utilizing estimating software such as Destini, Sage Estimating, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, WinEst, or similar platforms Experience with BIM coordination, preconstruction services, and value engineering initiatives TalentLogistiX is a workforce business solutions provider.
