Full-time, exemptOverviewRole supports electrical estimating for complex, multi‑year rail and transit infrastructure projects across Massachusetts and New England. Work centers on cost development for station, tunnel, yard, shop, and right‑of‑way electrical systems within heavy rail, light rail, and commuter rail environments.

Typical Electrical ScopePower distribution systems up to medium voltageTraction power facility power distribution interfacesStation electrical systems: switchgear, panels, transformers, normal/emergency powerInterior, exterior, platform, and tunnel lightingFire alarm and life‑safety systemsCommunications and low‑voltage infrastructure: PA, CCTV, access control, SCADA interfaces, fare collection, signageTrackside/ROW electrical systems: power to signal houses, bungalows, wayside devices, trackside lighting, grounding/bondingSite electrical: parking lot lighting, site power distributionTemporary power/lighting for constructionResponsibilitiesReview drawings, specifications, addenda, RFIs, and reference documentsPerform detailed quantity takeoffs for all electrical scopesBuild complete cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and general conditionsIdentify gaps, risks, phasing constraints, track access issues, outages, and operational impacts specific to transit projectsSolicit and level vendor and subcontractor proposalsDevelop value alternates and cost‑saving optionsSupport preconstruction, project management, and operations to ensure estimates reflect real production ratesParticipate in internal estimate reviews, risk reviews, and turnover processesAssist with budgeting, ROM pricing, and change‑order developmentMaintain knowledge of MBTA and other regional transit authority standards and approved productsContribute to historical cost databases and benchmarkingQualificationsElectrical estimating experience in commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or transit sectorsAbility to read and interpret electrical, civil, structural, architectural, and systems drawingsProficiency with estimating and takeoff software and Excel‑based estimating toolsStrong understanding of electrical construction methods and labor unitsFamiliarity with transit‑specific requirements: outages, track time, flagging, restricted work windowsKnowledge of NEC, NFPA, and applicable state/local codesDetail‑oriented analytical skill set suited for fixed‑deadline estimating environmentsEffective written and verbal communication skillsPreferred BackgroundExperience with MBTA or other major U.S. transit authoritiesField experience in electrical construction for rail or infrastructureUnderstanding of design‑build, CM/GC, and progressive‑design delivery formatsExposure to signal power, communications infrastructure, or traction power interfacesRelevant technical degree or equivalent industry experienceBenefitsCompetitive salary within the listed rangePerformance‑based incentivesComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverageRetirement plan with employer contributionPaid vacation, sick time, and company‑recognized holidaysEmployer‑paid or subsidized life and disability insuranceSupport for professional development, technical training, and code/standards education
