This role requires a strong background in the mechanical trades, hands-on construction estimating experience, and the ability to work directly with general contractors and owners to support repeat business and successful project awards. This position is designed for an estimator who has lived and worked in the mechanical construction trade , understands how projects are built in the field, and has successfully estimated HVAC systems in a GC-driven environment. Core Responsibilities Prepare accurate mechanical estimates from conceptual, schematic design, design development (DD), and construction documents (CD). Perform complete takeoffs and pricing for sheet metal HVAC systems, producing final estimates for bid submission. Lead mechanical estimating efforts for projects of varying size and complexity within the commercial construction market. Interface directly with general contractors, owners, subcontractors, and internal project teams throughout the estimating process. Develop and maintain strong client and GC relationships to support repeat work and ongoing project awards. Participate in pricing reviews, scope clarifications, bid leveling, and final pricing negotiations . Manage material and subcontractor pricing coordination and buyouts in collaboration with project teams. Review drawings across all stages of design and generate RFIs when scope gaps or conflicts are identified. Coordinate estimates with internal operations, project management, and leadership teams. Maintain awareness of local subcontractor and supplier markets relevant to sheet metal and HVAC construction. Required Experience & Background Minimum 5+ years of mechanical construction estimating experience , with a strong emphasis on sheet metal HVAC systems . Prior hands-on mechanical trade experience in the field strongly preferred (sheet metal, HVAC installation, or related). Proven experience estimating mechanical HVAC work for commercial construction projects . Demonstrated history of working directly with general contractors and participating in competitive bid environments. Experience developing and maintaining long-term professional relationships within the mechanical construction industry.
Preferred / Plus
Experience HVAC piping or hydronic estimating experience is a plus, but not required. Experience with multi-family, mixed-use, or commercial HVAC construction projects is acceptable and transferable. Familiarity with Trimble is a plus (sheet metal experience preferred; piping integration experience helpful but not required). Skills & Qualifications Strong understanding of mechanical construction means and methods. Ability to read and interpret HVAC and architectural drawings with confidence. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple estimates concurrently. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard estimating workflows (Google Drive acceptable). Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods of time. Occasional bending, reaching, walking, and lifting as required for office and site-related activities.Pay:
