The Estimator is accountable for producing accurate estimates that align with project specifications and drawings, and managing bids from vendors and subcontractors. Under the guidance of the Director of Pre-Construction, the Estimator is responsible for analyzing project plans, specifications, and requirements to accurately estimate the costs of construction projects. This role involves determining the quantities and costs of materials, labor, equipment, and other resources necessary to complete competitive project budgets. The Estimator collaborates closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate estimates that align with project goals and timelines.RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Estimation Follow approved estimating practices consistent with company guidelines to produce comprehensive, accurate estimates that lead to successful projects Review project documents, including but not limited to specifications, drawings, and technical reports Develop a thorough, accurate budget and plan for the project with take-offs, install, labor calculations, and subcontractor support based on contract documents Calculate the total cost of projects and keep clients aware of any budget deviations Cost Analysis Identify labor, material, subcontractor, and time requirements Solicit, review and analyze bids for conformance to project specifications, price, material quality, and related items Vendor Coordination Make sure all cost estimates submitted by a subcontractor are within the estimate provided and have been properly documented Discuss and resolve any questions with the subcontractor before submission of the final estimate Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors Solicit vendors and subcontractor bids for assigned projects to obtain comparative and competitive quotations for materials and subcontracted services Participate in project site walkthroughs with potential subcontractors and vendors Complete a thorough de-scoping of vendor and subcontractor proposals Bid and Proposal Preparation Review and analyze bids for conformance to project specifications, price, material quality, and related items Ensure that all bid/estimate documents are filled in completely and accurately before submission to the clientQUALIFICATIONS
Certifications/Skills Extensive estimating knowledge in commercial, industrial , and self-performance construction Thorough understanding of construction costs, scheduling, purchasing, accounting, and engineering principles Strong math skills and the ability to read blueprints Extreme attention to detail is required Construction Supervisors License preferred Must be able to create accurate estimates to be submitted to the client Valid driver's license Education Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field preferred Experience 5 plus years of pre-construction/estimating experience Strong computer skills and experience with estimating software Strong preference for experience with Procore construction management softwarePay:
