Operations Manager Core Capabilities:
We are looking for someone who can positively contribute to our culture by being honest, willing to learn, punctual, responsible, dependable and adaptable. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial landscape construction, enhancement, and site development projects. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and able to balance technical estimating skills with strong communication and relationship-building abilities. This individual will work closely with Operations team, vendors, contractors, and clients to help drive profitable growth while maintaining the company's standards for quality and customer service.
Job Duties:
Win upwards of $1.0M in commercial sales Review plans, specifications, and bid documents for commercial landscape projects. Streamline the bidding process by managing incoming emails, communicating changes in project scope, adjusting bid proposals and timelines etc. Perform quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted services. Prepare accurate and timely project estimates and proposals. Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing. Work with business support manager to ensure material list and pricing is updated for accurate estimating and takeoffs Develop budgets and projected job costs. Maintain bid calendars and ensure all deadlines are met. Assist with project scheduling, procurement, and job startup planning. Communicate scope details, budgets, and expectations clearly to Operations team to ensure smooth project execution Follow up on submitted proposals and negotiate pricing when appropriate. Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed. Help develop estimating systems, templates, and cost databases. Track awarded projects, production costs, and estimate accuracy. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability. Build and maintain strong relationships with current and new general contractors, subcontractors, developers, municipalities, and vendors. Represent the company professionally in meetings and networking opportunities.
Requirements:
3+ years of experience in commercial landscape estimating, construction estimating, or related field preferred. Knowledge of landscape construction methods, materials, irrigation, grading, and site development. Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and construction documents. Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills. Proficiency in estimating software, Excel, and project management systems. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously. Valid driver's license required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with commercial landscaping, hardscaping, or civil/site construction. Familiarity with bid platforms and takeoff software. Understanding of job costing and profit margins. Knowledge of plants, hardscaping materials, and landscaping terminology Navigation and know-how with Landscape Management Network (LMN) software
