Design-Build Estimator Commercial Construction

Gladwin, Michigan - Onsite Full-time $80,000+ based on experience About the Role FED Design/Builders is seeking a Preconstruction Estimator with strong conceptual estimating skills to join our collaborative and high-performing design-build team. In this role, you'll shape project outcomes from the earliest stages, preparing conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and strategic bid packages across diverse commercial construction projects. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key player in our Preconstruction team, working closely with leadership and contributing directly to our growth trajectory toward becoming a $100M company. What You'll Do Develop conceptual and detailed estimates for commercial projects from schematic through final bid stages. Collaborate with the Chief Estimator to create competitive, strategic pricing solutions. Perform material quantity take-offs using software like CostX or similar platforms. Evaluate construction documents and identify design or scope risks early in the process. Value engineer estimates to maintain budget accuracy and integrity. Analyze historical data and post-job costs to refine future bid strategies. Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors for accurate pricing and market insights. Represent FED professionally to clients, vendors, and partners in all interactions. What We're Looking For 5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience, with conceptual estimating skills. Deep understanding of unit costs, construction sequencing, and risk mitigation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and CostX or equivalent software. Strong communication and presentation skills. Meticulous attention to detail and high personal standards for accuracy. Experience across multiple divisions of construction (CSI MasterFormat preferred). Why Join FED Corporation?
