Job Description
We are hiring for a Cost Estimator Position Summary Vintech Industries is seeking a Cost Estimator to support RFQs, new business quotes, engineering changes, tooling changes, and program launches. This role is responsible for developing accurate manufacturing cost estimates for Vintech's core processes, including extrusion, co-extrusion, insert injection molding, roll forming, assembly, tooling, fixtures, and secondary operations . The Cost Estimator must be able to open, read, and interpret CAD files , including 2D drawings and 3D models, to understand part geometry, material usage, tolerances, tooling impact, and manufacturing cost drivers. Cost Estimator Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for customer RFQs, new business, engineering changes, and launch activity. Review customer drawings, CAD files, specifications, volumes, timing, and commercial requirements. Estimate material, labor, machine time, tooling, fixtures, packaging, freight, scrap, overhead, SG&A, and profit. Analyze CAD files for part size, wall thickness, profile complexity, insert locations, holes, cut lengths, forming features, secondary operations, and assembly requirements. Support costing for extrusion, co-extrusion, insert injection molding, roll forming, and related manufacturing processes. Work with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Operations, Finance, Tooling, and Program Management. Document quote assumptions, risks, exclusions, and open items. Support internal quote reviews and customer cost clarification when needed. Maintain organized quote files, cost models, and estimating history. Compare quoted cost versus actual performance and help identify cost-reduction opportunities. Cost Estimator Qualifications Experience in manufacturing cost estimating, quoting, engineering, purchasing, finance, or program management. Ability to open, read, and interpret CAD files, including 2D drawings and 3D models. Ability to read customer drawings, specifications, and RFQ packages. Strong understanding of manufacturing cost drivers. Strong Excel skills, including formulas, cost models, and quote summaries. Good communication skills and strong attention to detail. Ability to work under RFQ deadlines in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. Preferred Cost Estimator Experience Automotive supplier experience, preferably Tier 1 or Tier 2. Experience with extrusion, co-extrusion, insert injection molding, roll forming, or automotive trim products. Familiarity with CAD formats such as STEP, IGES, DXF, DWG, or similar. Knowledge of tooling, fixtures, gages, packaging, freight, launch costs, and capital investment. Experience with APQP, feasibility reviews, engineering changes, customer quote formats, or open-book costing.
