This position serves as the critical link between Engineering, Tooling, Operations, and Sales by evaluating part designs, tooling requirements, manufacturing processes, production volumes, and customer requirements to develop accurate cost models and pricing strategies. The ideal candidate will have experience in injection molding, manufacturing cost analysis, tooling, quoting, or estimating and possess a strong understanding of how manufacturing decisions impact profitability and operational performance. Key ResponsibilitiesCost Estimating & Quoting Review and analyze customer RFQs, technical specifications, drawings, and manufacturing requirements.
Evaluate:
2D engineering drawings 3D CAD models Customer specifications Production volumes Program requirements Develop detailed cost estimates for: Raw materials Machine time Labor Tooling Secondary operations Packaging Overhead allocation Build accurate and competitive pricing models that support company profitability objectives. Prepare professional customer quotations and supporting documentation. Injection Molding & Tooling Analysis Analyze part geometry and manufacturability.
Evaluate:
Resin selection Mold complexity Cycle times Production efficiencies Secondary operations Work closely with Tooling and Engineering teams to estimate: Mold build costs Tool modifications Engineering changes Prototype tooling Support tooling strategy discussions including: Full tooling recovery Shared tooling investment Tooling-at-cost scenarios Long-term customer pricing strategies Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with: Sales Engineering Tooling Manufacturing Program Management Support customer proposal development and commercial strategy discussions. Assist with project timing, launch planning, and customer presentations as needed. Participate in customer and internal quote review meetings. Cost Modeling & Continuous Improvement Develop and maintain estimating models and pricing tools. Track historical quoting performance and actual manufacturing costs. Identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy and quoting efficiency. Support profitability analysis during customer negotiations and program reviews. Continuously refine labor, machine rate, material, and overhead assumptions. Business & Commercial Support Assist with pricing revisions and commercial negotiations. Provide management with profitability analysis and cost comparisons. Support make-versus-buy evaluations and manufacturing strategy decisions. Contribute to improving quote turnaround time and proposal consistency. QualificationsRequired Minimum 3 years of manufacturing cost estimating experience .

Injection molding Plastics manufacturing Tool & Die Manufacturing engineering Production cost analysis Strong understanding of: Manufacturing cost structures Material costing Machine rates Labor costing Overhead allocation Ability to interpret: Engineering drawings Technical specifications CAD models Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Preferred Injection molding quoting experience. Experience estimating mold and tooling costs.
Familiarity with:
Paperless Parts ERP quoting systems Cost estimating software Hands-on knowledge of: Mold design Tool build processes Engineering change management Experience within: Automotive Aerospace Medical Device High-precision manufacturing environments Understanding of resin materials and their impact on: Cycle times Shrinkage Tooling requirements Production efficiency Key Traits for Success Highly analytical Detail-oriented Strong business acumen Customer-focused Excellent communication skills Strategic thinker Collaborative team player Self-motivated and organized Comfortable balancing multiple RFQs and deadlines simultaneously Physical Requirements Primarily office-based role with occasional manufacturing floor exposure. Ability to review tooling, manufacturing processes, and production operations as needed. Frequent computer and data analysis work. Work Environment Professional manufacturing environment.
