Job Description
Build Your Future with Collins Electrical Collins Electrical Construction Co., a trusted electrical and low-voltage contractor serving the Twin Cities since 1948, is seeking an Experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team in Oakdale, Minnesota. With over 75 years of excellence across commercial, industrial, healthcare, and multi-family markets, we pride ourselves on craftsmanship, innovation, and long-term relationships. We are looking for a skilled estimator who thrives on tackling complex projects, collaborating with high-performing teams, and delivering accurate, competitive bids that drive success. What You'll Do As a Senior Electrical Estimator at Collins, you'll play a critical role in our preconstruction process:
- Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to ensure complete and accurate scope coverage
- Perform material and labor takeoffs using AccuBid and On Screen Takeoff
- Solicit, review, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals
- Attend pre-bid meetings and perform site visits as needed
- Prepare professional, competitive bid proposals and support client presentations
- Identify project risks, constructability challenges, and cost-saving opportunities
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and designers
- Maintain historical cost data to improve future estimating accuracy
- Support design-build and design-assist project efforts What You Bring
- 5+ years of electrical estimating experience (typical project range: $1M-$10M)
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, and construction methods
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations
- Proficiency in AccuBid Classic, On Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
