Independence, Missouri, United States Talascend is currently seeking a Distribution Designer for a contract opportunity with our client in Independence, Missouri. Overview This role involves performing engineering calculations, developing work packages for distribution projects, field visits, and utility coordination to support electric utility distribution design projects. Responsibilities Perform engineering calculations including structural analysis, cable pulling, electric demand, and fault currents.
Prepare forestry trimming requests and facilitate permit and right-of-way acquisition.
Develop bills of material, estimate costs, and advocate for customers through easements and contribution calculations.
Develop work packages for overhead, underground residential distribution, and underground cable or conduit projects.
Identify conflicting utilities and review post-construction activities.
Utilize client standards and documents to support project execution. Qualifications High school diploma or 2-year technical degree with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
Experience with Maximo, AutoCAD, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus.
Familiarity with pole loading software such as DDS, O-Calc, SPIDA Calc, Pole Foreman, or LD Field.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to interpret client-supplied documents and standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
Good understanding of mathematics and engineering principles. Preferred Qualifications Experience with projects in electric utility distribution design. We thank all applicants for their interest.
