Commercial Flooring Estimator

Dave's Carpet and Flooring is searching for our next team member in our fastest growing segment. Position Summary The Commercial Flooring Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and profitable cost estimates for commercial flooring projects. This role collaborates closely with sales, project management, and operations to ensure bids reflect true material, labor, and logistical costs while supporting company margin goals. This is a key role in driving revenue and profitability—ideal for someone detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in commercial construction estimating. Compensation includes a base pay with profit share, as well as assuming relationships with many established accounts. Responsibilities Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for commercial flooring projects by analyzing plans, specifications, and site conditions. Utilize estimation software to develop comprehensive cost proposals. Collaborate with project managers, sales team members, clients, suppliers, and management to gather pricing data and negotiate favorable terms. Review contracts, scope of work, and project requirements to ensure all aspects are accounted for in estimates. Monitor project budgets and perform cost control analysis throughout the project lifecycle. Assist in bidding process management by preparing bid packages, submitting proposals, and following up with clients. Provide input on project scheduling, resource allocation, and procurement strategies based on estimate insights. Assist retail sales staff as needed Requirements Proven experience in construction estimating. Strong proficiency with construction estimating programs. Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors. Solid understanding of construction management principles, contracts, and project management practices. Hands-on experience with construction site activities and familiarity with OSHA safety standards. Ability to read blueprints, plans, and technical specifications accurately. Effective communication skills to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and present estimates clearly.
