Estimator Job Description This position is responsible for constructing precise cost estimates and material takeoffs for millwork projects, including windows, doors, trim, and similar elements in both residential and commercial construction environments. Responsibilities Review blueprints and specifications to determine necessary materials and labor. Prepare detailed quotes and bid packages for the sales team. Collaborate with sales, customers, and internal teams to clarify details and ensure accuracy. Recommend cost-saving options through value engineering. Support the sales team during the bidding process. Essential Skills Proficiency in estimation, construction, and bidding. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and architectural plans. Expertise in construction management and estimating software. Knowledge of commercial construction and preconstruction processes. Skill in pricing, cost estimation, and proposal creation. Understanding of millwork products including windows, doors, trim, and stair parts. Effective communication skills with sales, customers, and project teams. Basic math and measurement skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications 1+ year of estimating experience in construction or a related field. Comfort with reading plans and specifications. Strong attention to detail to avoid costly mistakes. Ability to manage multiple bids and projects simultaneously. Comfortable working cross-functionally with sales, purchasing, and production teams.
