Job Description

An Estimator is responsible for deciding the projected period needed to complete a project and additional factors like labor needs, materials, budgets, and potential setbacks. Duties include communicating with personnel and contractual professionals or vendors, using computer software to weigh production risks or compile reports and making presentations to project leaders outlining their suggestions for upcoming projects. Estimator duties and responsibilities Estimators collaborate closely with other professionals including consultants, contractors, and operations personnel to provide the most accurate and comprehensive financial and budget analysis for their employers.
Their duties often include:
  • Analyzing requirement documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project
  • Determining what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product
  • Preparing material estimates and cost estimates for the product or service
  • Creating labor estimates for any project
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors and contractors
  • Managing bids from vendors and contractors
  • Using bid data to prepare detailed cost analysis
  • Presenting prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders
  • Compiling and recording actual costs Essential Functions
  • Be familiar with construction work and terminology.
  • Identify deficiencies in drawings and generate pricing to cover for them.
  • Understand the need for Evaluate team's scope clarifications, Draft/edit scope clarifications as needed.
  • Develop quantity-based estimates from partial information.
  • Create Takeoffs listing the products and amounts of materials needed to yield the labor needed to complete the project.
  • Ensure that estimates are created in a way that allows takeoffs and pricing to be traced directly back to a defining document.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and cost saving enhancement discussions.
  • Organize the estimate in a manner required to meet the needs of the project.
  • Lead the effort to generate an appropriately detailed resource loaded preliminary schedule.
  • Write execution plans to undertake the project work.
  • Understand the principals of project cash flow and develop project milestone billing schedules and cash flow diagrams.
  • Develop risk ranging analysis for elements of the project and use that to assign contingency.
  • Constructability assessments e.g., installation access, bobcats, cement trucks, material handling, man-lifts, scaffolding, etc.
  • Maintain and issue Change Orders Qualifications
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects and capable of working independently. Good basic mathematical comprehension.
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Can make clear and concise presentations to senior management.
  • Have a good understanding of the operating process used to complete the project
  • Be a self-motivated enthusiastic team player willing to work/mentor with others and adopt new ideas and methods.
  • Good computer skills including an operating knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with Bluebeam, project scheduling software (MS Project) and databases will be an advantage.

  • Base Pay (based on experience) - Weekly
  • Bonus opportunity quarterly Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
