Construction Estimator CyberCoders - 3.9 Towaco, NJ Job Details Full-time $70,000 - $90,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Paid holidays Health insurance Cell phone reimbursement Qualifications Estimating software Technical Proficiency Full Job Description Construction Estimator Estimator Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our construction team and lead the cost estimating process for public works and government projects. The Estimator will prepare accurate, competitive estimates during preconstruction, collaborate with project managers and subcontractors, and help shape bid strategy to ensure profitability and compliance with contract requirements. This role requires strong technical knowledge of construction practices, estimating software, and experience with government procurement and public sector project constraints. Key Responsibilities Prepare comprehensive cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid packages for public works, government, and commercial construction projects during preconstruction. Analyze project documents, specifications, drawings, and soil/geotechnical reports to identify scope, risks, and opportunities for value engineering. Develop and maintain cost databases, unit pricing, and historical costing to support accurate and consistent estimates. Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate scopes and pricing with subcontractors and suppliers; obtain and review bid proposals. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and estimating team members to ensure all disciplines are covered and assumptions are documented. Ensure compliance with government procurement requirements, bonding, labor rates, prevailing wage (if applicable), and contract conditions for public sector bids. Prepare bid submissions, clarifications, and supporting documentation; present estimate summaries and rationale to leadership during bid review. Participate in value engineering, constructability reviews, and risk assessment to improve project deliverability and margin. Maintain confidentiality of bid pricing and protect company competitive position. Support post-bid activities including scope reconciliation, change order pricing, and transitioning awarded projects to project management teams. Qualifications 2+ years of estimating experience in construction estimating, experience on public works or government projects is a plus. Strong knowledge of preconstruction processes, quantity takeoffs, unit pricing, and cost modeling. Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Timberline, Sage Estimating) and Microsoft Excel. Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously. Effective communication and negotiation skills for working with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents. Self-motivated, collaborative team player with a commitment to ethical conduct and confidentiality of bid information. Valid drivers license and ability to travel to job sites and pre-bid meetings as required. Benefits Salary Based on
