Full Job Description Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Accuratelyprojects the cost of projects and provides information by developingindependent cost estimates based on cost of a defined scope of work at anystage of project definition. 2. Prepareseconomic cost studies, cash flows and contingency analyses. 3. Preparesall aspects of detailed cost estimates with minimal supervision. Projects are generally larger and morecomplex estimating assignments. 4. Attendssite visits to observe, review and confirm existing conditions, proposedmodifications and details regarding items that may be replaced or repaired insupport of the cost estimating necessities. 5. Providessupport in price negotiations. 6. Performsrelated costs estimating and budgeting functions. 7. Performsconceptual estimating by establishing a project's cost, before any graphicalrepresentation of a facility has been developed. 8. Performsdetailed cost estimates by breaking down the items of work on an orderly andlogical basis, determining the cost of each item from experience andsummarizing the total. 9. Worksclosely the project managers to ensure the project estimate meets all financialand regulatory guidelines, including grant and federal procurementrequirements. 10. Analyzesspecifications, drawings, sketches and sample layouts to calculate totalconstruction cost using labor, material and equipment pricing schedules inconcert with historical data. 11. Preparestakeoffs on complex projects, drawings and plans with project management, andchecks for mathematical and technical accuracy. 12. Reviewsproposals, contract documents and contract modifications to determine scopes ofwork and scope changes. 13. Obtainsquotes for materials and services. 14. Accumulates, evaluates and documents historical cost data and construction procedures and methods in order to maintain current estimating standards and databases. 15. Participates in presentations as required.
