Overview An established civil construction contractor is seeking a Civil Estimator to support the successful delivery of infrastructure and site development projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of civil construction projects, preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates while collaborating closely with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams. The successful candidate will play a key role in the tendering and pre-construction process, helping to secure new projects and support successful project execution. Key Responsibilities Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, permits, and project requirements. Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for civil construction projects. Solicit and evaluate quotations from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors. Attend site visits and gather field information to support estimate preparation. Maintain estimating records and bid tracking databases. Prepare bid submissions and supporting documentation. Manage requests for information, bid clarifications, and tender addenda. Respond to subcontractor and supplier enquiries throughout the bidding process. Analyse subcontractor quotations and prepare bid comparison reports. Support project handover activities to operations and project management teams. Assist in developing scopes of work for subcontractors and suppliers. Prepare bid packages and supporting documentation for project stakeholders. Participate in post-tender negotiations and procurement activities. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. Support project teams with cost control initiatives and change order pricing. Contribute to continuous improvement within estimating and pre-construction activities. Requirements Experience estimating heavy civil, infrastructure, roadway, utility, site development, or transportation projects. Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and tendering processes. Experience performing quantity take-offs and cost analysis. Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail. Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites when required. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline. Experience working for a heavy civil construction contractor. Familiarity with industry-standard estimating and quantity take-off software. Knowledge of earthworks, utilities, drainage, roadways, paving, and site development projects.
