As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to help drive project success by developing accurate, competitive bids and supporting strategic business growth while upholding our commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. Position Summary The Lead Estimator is responsible for managing the complete estimating process for commercial electrical and low-voltage projects. This includes reviewing bid opportunities, performing takeoffs, soliciting vendor pricing, developing labor and material estimates, preparing proposals, and collaborating with project management and operations teams to ensure successful project execution. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, structured cabling, fire alarm, access control, security, and communications systems, along with a proven track record of winning profitable projects. Key Responsibilities Lead all estimating efforts for Electrical and Low Voltage projects. Review plans, specifications, and bid documents. Perform quantity takeoffs and labor calculations.
Develop detailed cost estimates for:
Commercial Electrical Systems Fire Alarm Systems Access Control Systems CCTV & Security Systems Structured Cabling & Communications Fiber Optic Infrastructure Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes. Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks. Identify project risks and value-engineering opportunities. Prepare proposals and bid packages. Present estimates to company leadership for review. Maintain estimating databases and historical cost records. Work closely with project managers during project turnover. Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, owners, and vendors. Track bid results and analyze win/loss trends. Qualifications Required Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in Electrical Construction, Low Voltage Systems, or related construction trades. Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, and industry standards. Experience estimating commercial and industrial projects. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Proficiency with estimating software (Accubid, Procore, McCormick, Bluebeam, Trimble, or similar). Strong Excel and computer skills. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. Valid driver's license. Preferred 8+ years of estimating experience. Previous leadership or senior estimator experience. Electrical Journeyman License or industry certifications. Experience with public works, prevailing wage, and government contracts.
