Cost Estimator Construction Materials Engineers - 4.5 Reno, NV Job Details Full-time 15 hours ago Benefits Paid training Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Opportunities for advancement Life insurance Qualifications Cost management Estimating software Microsoft Excel Driver's License Estimating construction project budgets Productivity software Technical Proficiency Full Job Description We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cost Estimator to support our Construction Management team with Independent Cost Estimating (ICE) services on a variety of private and public infrastructure projects and to join our growing team in Reno, Nevada. This role will focus on developing accurate, production-based cost estimates for water and wastewater facilities, pipelines, pump stations, and related civil and industrial infrastructure. This position requires a strong understanding of heavy civil construction, with an emphasis on concrete construction, sitework, utilities, and process-related infrastructure. The Cost Estimator will work closely with CME's team, outside design engineers, and project stakeholders to prepare estimates at various design milestones. They will also assist in cost reconciliation with Owner and Contractor teams and provide constructability input that supports informed project decisions.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed, production-based cost estimates for civil, water/wastewater, and infrastructure projects Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents to develop accurate quantity takeoffs Support ICE efforts during design phases and assist with reconciliation and GMP development on alternate delivery projects Evaluate construction means and methods, sequencing, and schedule impacts on project costs Develop and maintain unit cost databases, including labor, equipment, and materials Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to validate assumptions and pricing Provide input on constructability, risk identification, and value engineering opportunities Demonstrate strong understanding of concrete construction estimating, including structural and flatwork applications Maintain clear and organized documentation to support audit-ready project records
Minimum Qualifications:
5 years of experience in cost estimating for heavy civil, water/wastewater, or infrastructure projects Strong background in concrete construction estimating (e.g., structural concrete, cast-in-place, foundations, flatwork) Experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing unit pricing Familiarity with public works construction and standard specifications (NDOT, local agencies, or similar) Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel required, HCSS, HeavyBid, or similar experience preferred) Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Why Join CME? Experience:
Entry- to mid-level experience (2-5+ years) in cost estimating for public infrastructure projects, including water/wastewater facilities, pipelines, site development, and heavy civil construction. Experience with concrete construction estimating (structural, foundations, flatwork) strongly preferred.
