Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION A
leading structural steel fabricator and erector is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join its growing team. This individual will play a critical role in securing new business by preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial, industrial, manufacturing, institutional, and specialty steel projects. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Review project drawings, specifications, bid documents, and contract requirements Perform quantity takeoffs for structural steel and miscellaneous metals packages Solicit, evaluate, and analyze vendor and subcontractor quotations Prepare detailed cost estimates including material, labor, equipment, freight, erection, and subcontract costs Identify project risks, opportunities, and value-engineering alternatives Coordinate with project managers, detailers, engineers, fabrication teams, and field operations during the bidding process Attend pre-bid meetings and participate in project handoff meetings upon award Develop conceptual, budgetary, and hard-bid estimates Prepare bid proposals and scope clarifications Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information Support business development efforts and cultivate relationships with general contractors, owners, and industry partners
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience estimating structural steel fabrication and erection projects Knowledge of structural steel and miscellaneous metals systems and construction practices Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings Experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed project estimates Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and estimating software Strong understanding of construction costs, labor productivity, and project scheduling Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously Knowledge of AISC standards and industry best practices preferred

Base Salary:
