$35 per hour Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Residential Construction Estimator to join our growing team on Long Island. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for residential construction projects, including new construction homes, additions, full-house renovations, kitchens, bathrooms, and investor property renovations. The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, subcontractor pricing, and local Long Island market conditions. This role works closely with ownership, project managers, field supervisors, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are properly budgeted and profitable. Responsibilities Estimating & Preconstruction Review architectural plans, engineering drawings, and specifications. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor work. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids. Prepare comprehensive project estimates and proposals. Develop budgets for new construction, renovations, additions, and remodeling projects. Analyze project risks and identify cost-saving opportunities. Maintain historical cost databases and pricing information. Project Planning Assist in developing project schedules and construction timelines. Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings. Coordinate with project managers during project handoff. Review change orders and prepare pricing adjustments. Assist ownership in determining project feasibility and profitability. Vendor & Subcontractor Management Build and maintain relationships with local Long Island suppliers and subcontractors. Negotiate pricing and purchasing agreements. Track material cost fluctuations and market trends. Business Development Support Attend client meetings when required. Assist in scope development and value engineering. Help prepare bid packages and proposal presentations. Support efforts to improve estimating processes and accuracy. QualificationsRequired 3+ years of residential construction estimating experience. Strong understanding of residential construction practices and building systems. Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans. Experience preparing detailed takeoffs and budgets. Knowledge of local Long Island construction costs and subcontractor markets. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Experience with JobTread, Buildertrend, Procore, or similar construction management software.
