In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for a variety of construction projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining profitability. Your expertise will drive the bidding process, foster strong client relationships through precise negotiations, and support project management teams from inception to completion. Duties Lead the development of detailed construction estimates by analyzing project plans, specifications, and bid documents using industry-standard software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam. Collaborate with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and vendors to gather accurate pricing data and negotiate favorable terms that align with project budgets. Prepare and review bid proposals, ensuring all cost components—including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead—are accurately reflected. Oversee cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle to prevent budget overruns and optimize resource allocation. Conduct site visits to assess construction conditions, verify quantities, and gather real-time data to refine estimates. Assist in contract negotiations by reviewing terms and conditions to mitigate risks and ensure clarity for all parties involved. Support project management teams by providing detailed estimates that inform scheduling, procurement strategies, and overall project planning. Experience Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong background in heavy civil or commercial projects. Extensive knowledge of construction management principles, contracts, and project delivery methods. Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid; experience with Bluebeam is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to secure the best pricing and terms. Hands-on construction site experience that provides insight into on-the-ground realities impacting costs and schedules. Strong understanding of cost control techniques, pricing strategies, and risk management practices within the construction industry. Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead estimation teams and collaborate across multiple departments.
