This opportunity is ideal for a student looking to gain hands-on experience in the construction and electrical industry while learning directly from experienced estimators. What You'll Do:
Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for electrical construction projects, including multi-family developments. Review blueprints, specifications, and project documents to understand project scope and requirements. Support senior estimators with data gathering, quantity takeoffs, and project analysis. Request and track pricing from vendors and subcontractors. Help prepare bid packages, proposals, and supporting documentation. Maintain organized estimate records and project files. Learn to analyze historical cost data and market trends. Collaborate with project managers and team members to support project success.
What You Bring:
Basic knowledge of electrical systems and installation methods through education, internship, trade school, or field experience. Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Willingness to learn and grow in the estimating field. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). High school diploma or equivalent required. Current enrollment in or coursework related to Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Work Environment:
Part-time, in-office role. Collaborative team environment with daily interaction across departments. Fast-paced setting with multiple priorities and deadlines. Primarily desk-based work using computers and standard office equipment.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer. Ability to occasionally stand, walk, and move around the office. Ability to lift up to 15-20 pounds as needed. Visual ability to review detailed drawings and project documents.
