Exempt Job Summary:
The Project Estimato r is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for various projects. This role involves analyzing project requirements, collaborating with subcontractors and suppliers, and ensuring that all estimates are comprehensive and align with the company's standards. The Project Estimator will work closely with project managers and other team members to support successful project execution in our Dublin, OH office.
Key Responsibilities:
Exercise independent judgment in developing, adjusting, and approving project estimates, including methodology, pricing strategies, and risk assessment. Lead the estimating process for complex, multi-phase projects, including direct interaction with senior management and clients. Interpret project requirements, company policies, and industry standards, making recommendations for best practices and process improvements. Conduct site visits and assessments to inform estimate accuracy and project feasibility. Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers on pricing and terms for high-value contracts. Present and defend estimate recommendations to executive leadership, influencing project selection and company profitability. Oversee compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls, with authority to interpret and apply policies. Mentor and supervise junior estimators, providing training and guidance. Participate in strategic planning, pre-bid meetings, and project kickoff sessions, contributing to overall project strategy and execution.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) preferred. Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in project estimating, including demonstrated responsibility for independent decision-making and strategic project planning. Proven ability to interpret complex project documentation, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Experience leading estimating efforts for large, multi-phase projects and presenting recommendations to senior management. Advanced proficiency with industry-standard estimating software and analytical tools (e.g., Timberline, Bluebeam). Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills; experience mentoring or supervising junior staff. Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance to the business.
