Our dedicated team is committed to delivering exceptional craftsmanship and outstanding customer service, ensuring client satisfaction at every project stage.
Estimator / Pre
-Construction Coordinator Wright & Son Construction | Waterville, Ohio | Full-Time If you love the planning side of construction — the takeoffs, the scope, the problem-solving before a single board gets cut — and you enjoy being in front of clients as much as behind a spreadsheet, this role was built for you. Wright & Son Construction is a family-owned, design-build residential remodeling company based in Waterville, serving homeowners throughout Northwest Ohio. We specialize in kitchens, bathrooms, additions, and whole-home renovations, and we guide every client from first concept through final walkthrough. We are hiring an Estimator / Pre-Construction Coordinator to be the person who turns a design into a buildable, accurately priced project. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with our design team, project managers, and trade partners — and you will also play a key role in our sales process, visiting prospective clients in their homes and staying in close contact with them through the decision-making phase. Your work will directly shape how confidently we present projects and how smoothly they run in the field. Why This Role Matters Pre-construction is where a remodel is won or lost. The best-built project in the world starts with a clear scope, a realistic budget, and a client who trusts the process. You will own that stage for us. When you do your job well, our clients feel heard and confident, our trade partners get clean scopes, and our field team gets projects that are ready to build on day one. What You'll DoEstimating & Budget Development Review design plans, layouts, and renderings Perform material takeoffs and quantity calculations Develop preliminary budgets during the design phase Assemble detailed project estimates and cost breakdowns Maintain accurate pricing for materials, labor, and subcontractor work Client & Sales Support Meet with prospective clients in their homes to discuss their project vision, scope, and budget Gather the field information and measurements needed to build an accurate estimate Help clients understand our process, what their project will involve, and what to expect Stay in regular, professional contact with prospects during the decision-making phase Follow up on outstanding proposals and keep prospects engaged until they're ready to move forward Represent Wright & Son as a trusted, knowledgeable partner — not a high-pressure salesperson Scope Development Write clear, complete scopes of work for subcontractors and suppliers Make sure estimates fully reflect the project design and specifications Catch missing scope items and cost risks before proposals go to the client Partner with the design team to align project scope with client budgets Trade Partner Coordination Schedule and run trade partner walkthroughs Solicit and review bids from subcontractors and suppliers Compare pricing and clarify scope to ensure apples-to-apples numbers Build and strengthen long-term relationships with our trade partners Pre-Construction Planning Prepare approved projects for a clean handoff to the field Assemble final project budgets, allowances, and cost summaries Coordinate with project managers on scope, schedule, and open items Support value engineering when needed to bring a project to budget Systems & Documentation Enter project estimates and budgets into our project management system Keep organized records of bids, pricing, and scope documents Track historical cost data to improve our estimating accuracy over time Help build out internal estimating templates and systems What We're Looking ForRequired Background in residential construction — estimating, project management, carpentry, or a closely related trade Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plans with confidence Solid understanding of residential remodeling methods and sequencing Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills Comfortable communicating clearly with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients Comfortable in a client-facing role — professional, personable, and a good listener Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, or similar tools Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and dependable Nice to Have (Not Required) Experience in a design-build environment Prior experience in a sales or client-facing role in construction or a related industry Experience with JobTread or similar construction management software Familiarity with Chief Architect or other plan-reading / design software Experience developing scopes of work for trade partners Why Wright & Son We are a small, family-run company with a reputation built one project at a time. Here, you will not be a number. Your work will be visible, your ideas will be heard, and you will have a real hand in shaping how we estimate and run projects going forward. We care about doing things right — for our clients, our trades, and the people on our team. How to Apply Send your resume and a short note telling us why this role caught your eye. If you have examples of estimates, takeoffs, or scopes of work you can share, we would love to see them.Pay:
