Pittsburgh (onsite)Compensation:
$150K-$170K base + bonus Overview A high-growth energy/infrastructure company is seeking a Senior Cost Engineer to support financial oversight and cost control for a large-scale natural gas power plant construction project. This role is critical in managing project costs, aligning budgets, and integrating financial systems with field operations across all project phases. Key Responsibilities Cost Control & Financial Oversight- Track, forecast, and report project costs to ensure budget alignment
- Maintain and align Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) with Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
- Support capital planning and cost management across development, construction, and commissioning Project Controls & Reporting
- Deliver timely, accurate cost reporting and variance analysis
- Monitor project performance and provide insights to support decision-making
- Ensure data integrity across cost, schedule, and financial systems Accounting & Financial Integration
- Support accounting for capital projects, including CIP tracking and cost capitalization
- Partner with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Assist with compliance related to project financing, including lender requirements Systems & Process Improvement
- Support implementation and optimization of project controls and ERP systems
- Drive process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and scalability
- Develop standardized procedures for cost tracking and reporting Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with engineering, construction, and finance teams to align cost and schedule
- Provide clear financial insights to project leadership and stakeholders
- Contribute to a collaborative, high-performance project environment Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in cost engineering, project controls, or project accounting
- Experience with large-scale capital projects (energy, utilities, infrastructure, or industrial construction)
- Familiarity with EPC environments; DOE or federally funded project experience is a plus
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, complex project environment Benefits
