Job Overview:
We seek a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Roofing Estimator to join our dynamic team. As an Estimator, it is your mission to accurately assess the costs and requirements associated with commercial roofing projects. Your primary responsibility is to perform roof inspections, propose effective solutions, provide an accurate cost estimation for the roofing project, and provide proposals to customers. You will work alongside the sales team, proactively assist in closing projects, and provide the necessary technical expertise to support the team.
Key Responsibilities Lead Generation :
Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand market share.
Roof Inspections & Scope Assessment :
Conduct thorough roof inspections and review project plans—both onsite and electronically—to determine the scope of work.
Estimating & Proposals:
Prepare detailed, accurate estimates, proposals, and bid packages for new construction, reroof, and repair projects.
Client Consultation :
Engage with clients to understand their roofing needs, provide tailored recommendations, and address requests for information (RFIs) as needed.
Contract Negotiation :
Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms. Continuously evaluate project variables to deliver customer-focused solutions.
Relationship Building :
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, vendors, manufacturers, and industry professionals.
Follow-Up & Sales :
Actively follow up on proposals and leads to strengthen relationships and close deals.
Project Handoff :
Transition awarded projects seamlessly to the production team for execution.
Requirements/Skillsets Needed:
Minimum 5 years of experience in estimating commercial roofing projects. Strong mathematical and analytical skills to accurately calculate material quantities, labor costs, and project expenses. Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpretation to understand project specifications and requirements. Experience with construction software tools and current technology. This includes spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel, on-screen takeoff software like Stack or Edge, company CRM, and communication and collaboration tools. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, team members, and others. In-depth knowledge and technical expertise within the commercial roofing industry, including various materials, installation methods, and industry standards. Including BUR, MB, EPDM, TPO, PVC, metal, shingle, and other as-needed roof systems. Manufacturers including GAF, Versico, Carlisle, Elevate, etc. Strong time management and organizational abilities to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are crucial for evaluating project requirements, analyzing intricate roofing systems, identifying cost factors, tackling challenges, mitigating risks, recommending solutions, and fostering effective collaboration with all stakeholders involved.
