Tucson, AZ Job Details Full-time $55,000 - $70,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Paid holidays Disability insurance Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Opportunities for advancement Life insurance Qualifications Estimating construction project budgets Cost estimate preparation Full Job Description Position Summary DAP Construction Management is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to lead preconstruction and estimating efforts for commercial, federal, and construction-related projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical abilities, extensive construction knowledge, and the ability to independently manage the estimating process from initial bid review through final proposal submission. This role plays a critical part in the company's growth and project success by preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, developing subcontractor relationships, identifying project risks, and collaborating closely with project management and operations teams during preconstruction planning. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of construction means and methods, pricing strategies, subcontractor coordination, and project execution. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Preconstruction Lead the preparation of detailed conceptual, schematic, and hard bid estimates for commercial, government, and negotiated projects Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates Perform comprehensive quantity takeoffs and pricing analyses Develop scopes of work and solicit subcontractor and supplier pricing Review and evaluate subcontractor proposals for completeness, scope coverage, and pricing accuracy Prepare bid packages, cost breakdowns, value engineering recommendations, and proposal submissions Identify project risks, constructability concerns, scheduling impacts, and cost-saving opportunities Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, walkthroughs, and client meetings Collaborate with operations and project management teams during project turnover and preconstruction planning Maintain current market pricing, labor rates, material costs, and subcontractor relationships Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and procurement planning as needed Project & Construction Coordination Support project teams with change order pricing, cost analysis, and project buyout activities Review and interpret contract documents, plans, and specifications Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders throughout the preconstruction process Assist in developing project schedules and sequencing strategies Maintain organized estimating files, bid documentation, and subcontractor/vendor databases Qualifications Minimum of 5+ years of construction estimating experience required Experience estimating commercial, federal, municipal, or industrial construction projects preferred Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, labor productivity, and project sequencing Ability to read and interpret architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel Experience with estimating software and digital takeoff platforms preferred Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and negotiation abilities Ability to manage multiple deadlines and bid opportunities simultaneously Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred, but not required based on experience Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Opportunities for professional growth and advancement 401(k) with company match Medical, dental, and vision insurance eligibility Company-paid life insurance and short-term disability (STD) Paid time off and holidays Join our team, where your expertise will play a crucial role in maintaining our commitment to excellence in product quality!
