  • Our client is a growing commercial general contractor specializing in ground-up Quick-Service Restaurant (QSR) construction and retail/franchise tenant improvement projects nationwide. The company partners with nationally recognized franchise and retail brands and is known for delivering projects on accelerated schedules while maintaining high standards for quality, consistency, and execution.
  • They are seeking a Construction Estimator to support their preconstruction team by producing accurate quantity take-offs, material and labor estimates, subcontractor bid packages, and project budgets. This position plays a critical role in ensuring competitive pricing, accurate forecasting, and successful project execution for commercial retail and franchise construction projects.
  • This is a fully remote position.
Candidates must reside within the Central or Eastern United States and be able to travel occasionally to the Maryland office for meetings and collaboration.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs and material/labor estimates from construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Review architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings to identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, conflicts, and cost risks.
  • Develop trade-specific quantity packages for subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Support subcontractor bid solicitation, scope development, and bid-leveling activities.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate estimate documentation, take-off records, assumptions, and pricing worksheets.
  • Process drawing revisions, addenda, and scope changes while updating quantities and communicating cost impacts.
  • Support budgeting efforts and cost database development to improve estimating accuracy and consistency.
  • Collaborate with estimators, project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders throughout the preconstruction process.
  • commercial construction knowledge across demolition, framing, drywall, finishes, storefront systems, roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and equipment infrastructure.
  • Assist with estimating efforts for QSR, restaurant, retail, franchise, and tenant improvement construction projects operating on accelerated construction schedules.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of construction take-off, estimating support, quantity surveying, or estimating experience within commercial construction.
  • Experience estimating QSR, restaurant, retail, franchise, tenant improvement, commercial interior, or light commercial construction projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience preparing quantity take-offs and supporting subcontractor scope development and bid-leveling activities.
  • Working knowledge of CSI MasterFormat divisions and commercial construction means and methods.
  • Proficiency with digital take-off software such as Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, Quick Bid, or similar estimating platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, structured worksheets, and data management.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent estimates and meet firm bid deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for RFIs, scope clarifications, assumption logs, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to Maryland for company meetings and collaboration.
  • Must reside within the Central or Eastern United States.
Compensation:
  • Base salary in the 85k
  • 120k/year range
