Cost Estimator Job Description We are seeking a skilled Cost Estimator to join our team in providing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for various projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis and project cost estimation, ensuring that all quotes align with customer requirements and internal margin targets. Responsibilities Develop comprehensive cost estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, overhead, freight, and other project-related expenses. Produce timely, accurate quotes that align with customer requirements and internal margin targets. Analyze costs to identify potential risks, cost drivers, and opportunities for savings or optimization. Source, review, and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors to ensure completeness and competitiveness. Partner closely with project managers, engineers, sales, and finance to validate assumptions and scope. Monitor actual project costs against estimates, investigate variances, and update estimates as needed. Maintain estimating records, historical cost data, and documented lessons learned to improve accuracy and efficiency on future bids. Support bid preparation, proposal development, and pricing reviews. Perform additional duties as required to support business and operational needs. Essential Skills 5 - 8 years of experience in cost estimation or a similar role. Strong modeling experience in Excel. Strong understanding of cost and cost drivers, and integration into a complete quote. Detail-oriented and accuracy-driven. Proven experience with ERP or CRM systems, preferably SAP. Strong analytical and math skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. Experience with leases is helpful. Manufacturing or government contracting experience. Work Environment This position requires a hybrid work schedule, with onsite work from Tuesday to Thursday and remote work on Monday and Friday. The role demands the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment. Candidates should be detailed, self-motivated, results-oriented, and analytical. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Abingdon, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
