Estimator Commercial Construction

Job Overview Hummel Construction is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Estimator to lead our construction estimating team. This pivotal role involves overseeing the entire pre-construction process, accurately assessing project costs, and developing competitive bids. You will collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure precise cost forecasting and successful project execution. This position can be in office or remote. Duties Lead the development of comprehensive construction estimates for a variety of projects, including commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings. Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine scope of work and identify potential risks or cost-saving opportunities. Communicate directly with Owners regarding plan questions to ensure correct and accurate bidding information. Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to gather accurate pricing data and negotiate favorable terms that benefit the project. Implement effective cost control measures throughout the bidding process and during project execution to maximize profitability. Collaborate with project management teams to develop realistic schedules, budgets, and procurement strategies aligned with project goals. Ensure all estimates comply with contractual requirements, safety standards, and industry best practices while maintaining transparency in all calculations. Requirements Proven experience in commercial construction estimating within a general contracting environment, with a strong understanding of construction management principles. Demonstrated expertise in negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers. Solid knowledge of construction site operations, contracts, cost control methods, and project management processes. Ability to interpret complex construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents accurately. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners. We are also considering a remote estimator.
