Central Coast, CA (Serving Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles) Position Summary Ideal Steel Fabrication Inc. is seeking an Estimator / Project Manager to support the growth of our structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and custom fabrication operations. This position will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates, managing awarded projects, coordinating with general contractors, and supporting shop and field operations. The ideal candidate has experience in structural steel, stairs, railings, miscellaneous metals, and commercial construction projects. ResponsibilitiesEstimating Review plans, specifications, and bid documents Perform material takeoffs Solicit vendor and subcontractor pricing Prepare detailed project estimates and proposals Track bid opportunities and follow-up activities Maintain bid logs and estimating records Project Management Manage awarded projects from contract through closeout Coordinate with general contractors, architects, engineers, and owners Prepare RFIs, submittals, and change orders Schedule fabrication and installation activities Track project budgets and profitability Coordinate material procurement and deliveries Operations Support Work closely with shop foreman and field crews Assist with production scheduling Monitor project progress and milestones Ensure quality and customer satisfaction Qualifications Experience in structural steel and miscellaneous metals Ability to read construction drawings and specifications Experience with takeoffs and estimating software Strong organizational and communication skills Knowledge of commercial construction processes Proficient with Microsoft Excel and project documentation Preferred Experience Tekla EPM FabSuite Bluebeam PlanSwift AutoCAD Structural steel fabrication and erection Compensation Competitive salary based on experience Performance bonuses based on project profitability and company growth Opportunity to grow into Senior Project Manager or Operations Manager Success Metrics Bid volume submitted monthly Bid win rate Backlog growth Gross profit on awarded projects Project completion timelines Customer retention and repeat business
